About Bel-Air Prep
Drawn to the field of education, Roger Mandel began his journey with the Brentwood Educational Center, developing the research and experience that would later inspire him to create a private high school designed for students to truly flourish.
Bel-Air Prep first opened its doors in 1983 in rented facilities that once housed a church school. From the very beginning, the school embodied Mr. Mandel’s vision: a welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds, staffed by dedicated educators providing a credentialed curriculum with personalized attention.
Over the years, Bel-Air Prep alumni have gone on to achieve remarkable success across countless fields—a testament to the foundation laid within its classrooms. Today, at 96 years old, Mr. Mandel looks back with pride at the legacy he built and the generations of students whose lives he helped shape.
